I suppose the August 2012 deadline won't be met?

Dude.

Relax.

Don't do it,

when you want to go to it.

Hi there DaveW. Just wondering: is everything still OK? Can we still expect the final release of New Vision sometime in the near future? Don't want to sound demanding or anything, just wondering what's up since you have gone all quiet. Just a little note of "don't worry, still working on it, be patient" would be much appreciated and would put my mind at ease  .

Thanks again for what you have done for the Deus Ex fanbase/community, it is greatly appreciated.

Regards,
pl1982

Whenever the guy who wrote the installer gets back to me on making a few changes.

Unless anyone here knows anything about NSIS.

Great to hear some feedback from you DaveW. So close! Hopefully that coder gets back to you about the installer, otherwise just find someone else or use another installer. I wish I could help technically, but I am no good with installers/unreal-ED. All I can do is motivate you and express gratitude and reassurance that there are others like me who are anxiously waiting for the final release of New Vision. If the installer thing doesn't pan out, I say screw it, just release it for manual install :). And again, thanks for your work on NV.

Well, I want this to be the final release so I don't want to have to come back and update it with a new installer and stuff. I want to get it right first time.

Manual install will still be an option - the mod will be packed in a .7z file (which is actually what's causing the problem)

New Vision was just featured in this article with Black Mesa. I saw it on Facebook after the Black Mesa page posted it.

For fuck's sake - why do I only ever find these things out through a third party? :P

I've only just read the full article (plus part two which contained Hassat's TSLRCM). I'm so glad that NV is getting the recognition it deserves! :P
Plus, Revision got a little mention which is nice. However, someone needs to send the author an angry email and let them know about HDTP.

DaveW,

I am not much of a computer savvy person but I found a tutorial for using the NSIS installer and I might give it a try if what you want to do is not too complicated. I fear that the person that offered his help with the NSIS installer might not come back to New Vision since it was quite a long time ago now.

Well, yeah - the guy was talking about moving and getting a job somewhere so he's probably busy.

I've managed to tweak the NSIS installer to do most of what I need, the issue is getting it to extract a .7z archive while maintaining it's directory structure. Otherwise, all the textures get dumped in the main Deus Ex directory.

Why do you have it in a 7-zip archive, NSIS compresses the files itself?
