Re: Getting ready for the big release!
As well you shouldn't. I'm already 23. From this point forward no one younger than me is allowed to feel old.

No, it's people like Edmund McMillen.

Of course if you want to feel truly inadequate you need only look at historical figures. Martin Luther King Jr. was 26 when the Montgomery Bus Boycott started. What can I do in the next three years that will match that?

Re: Getting ready for the big release!
This is supposed to be a reply for the Call to the Community thread:
Oh my god, how freakin depressing. I registered here to help and I spend hours doing all of Package 4 and I was just finishing up importing the trans textures to replace the textures they are for when I get a General Protection Fault importing some of them. The rest of my work just disappears. Woohoo, so fun! I'll let someone else have the fun next time. Sorry, I tried to help.
I didn't realize it was locked, why was it locked? Did they already finish getting all the work done but no one said anything? If so it should have been posted that the request was over because all my work would have gone to waste anyways. :\

Re: Getting ready for the big release!
It was locked because we already finished all the packages last week. Every single package is listed in green. DaveW was changing the package names to green as they were done.SleepyHe4d wrote:I didn't realize it was locked, why was it locked? Though, yes, DaveW should edit the first post to that effect.
Sometimes I wish he'd chosen a different name (with a different abbreviation) for this project...metche_steele wrote:I'm looking forward to playing DX with NV

Re: Getting ready for the big release!
Oh well, it's fine, at least it's done. There was really no way to tell unless you noticed the thread was locked. (I guess it didn't stick out to me) Yeah, all the names were green, but since they all were the same I didn't know there was a difference and nobody said anything about green = done. Made it seem like the thread was still going since there was unfinished convos or whatever.Nameless Voice wrote:It was locked because we already finished all the packages last week. Next time I'll be more careful. :p
That brings up something I've been curious about, why are the graphics upgrade packs separate? Sorry, but wouldn't it be better and faster if they worked on one pack together? I know they have different goals but in a super small modding community like this I think it would be better if they made a compromise and worked on a single graphics mod.Nameless Voice wrote:Sometimes I wish he'd chosen a different name (with a different abbreviation) for this project...
Of course I don't see them changing that now.
Re: Getting ready for the big release!
I don't think joining forces would have made much difference, the team on HDTP is stretched as it is, and consists of modellers and model texture artists, not world texture artists. That said I am involved with HDTP and have lent a hand on some textures, so we are kind of working together
Sorry about the other topic, made sure to make it obvious now.

Re: Getting ready for the big release!
Hey congratulations on getting forward. Looking forward to see Deus Ex in NV.
Almost feels like it paid off to register and bug you to keep working on it.
Hope you can enlist some help to finish off the remaining textures.

Re: Getting ready for the big release!
Looking over it, I think I overdid the grungeyness on a lot of the textures. Like, a lot. But overall I'm happy with the overall look of the mod, now I can finally test everything together. I think the gamma on my monitor is going to shit so I hope these screenshots are ok;
UNATCO now appears a bit darker:
New York is mostly retextured, the major buildings have new textures. Looks suitably grungey and dirty:
The Subway again is suitably dirty:
As is Battery Park station. The wood on the floor has been fixed to fit in more (darker/grungier):
A hallway in Hong Kong:
And the MJ12 hideaway:
Yeah...I think I have to tone down the grungyness in UNATCO just a tad.
I have to admit, recently, I've been thinking of giving up on the project because it seemed like altering the textures tended to take away from the feel of the game, what with my limited texturing skill. But, after seeing it all in place - I'm glad I stuck with it. It looks fantastic!

Re: Getting ready for the big release!
It looks excellent! Very dark, so it's hard to see everything, but that's the gamma thing. With the grungyness, I think there's somehow too much detail in one screenshot; it fits perfectly, except in the last one, where all the grungy textures meet in the corner of an office. Playing DX:NV, I'm going to be staring at a lot of walls and floors for inordinate time-periods.
