Torment was released 12 years ago, anybody who wants to play it but hasn't got around to it yet does not belong on my Internets. Also I see nothing frustrating about awesome non-standard game overs! That's just... well, awesome!
And I thought there was an evil ending in Torment where you basically go: Screw that shit, I'm immortal forever and have slain all my enemies. Guess I'm wrong on that count.
Yeah I certainly don't remember that. All the endings were just different ways to deal with TTO before getting banished to The Grey Waste.
Well then get off my Internets, play Torment, and then get back here to resume the discussion!
I've played that game. Does that make me better than DDL?
Yes.
Your value as a gamer is defined by x*Torment where x is everything else, and Torment is 0 if you have not played Torment.

And it's more of a "closure" than fighting an infinite war for the rest of your life... now that closes nothing .
It is a non-standard yes. And that's sort of what I mean. TNO can either die to forever fight in a bloody war that no one can be allowed to win, or he can just die. And for some reason the latter is considered worse by the game

Oh, I missed that, sorry.
Sure it does - it reconciles or eliminates TTO, it makes peace between TNO and all of his companions, and it gives him a chance to face his punishment and atone for his innumerable sins. It leaves the further fate of TNO open, but it neatly ties up all the narrative strings brought up throughout the game.
Which is also why...

Because suicide is too easy a shortcut, and it leaves the problem of TTO hanging. It's not facing the consequences of your actions, it's giving up and taking the coward's way out.

TTO is not a problem for the multiverse. He is a problem for TNO, and with TNO gone he would have no purpose and most likely fade away as well.
Admittedly, it is douchy towards your companions, who are then left to die.
