Beer and wine heal the player and cause drunkeness for merely half a minute; smoking shouldn't be too bad.
Re: Realistic too easy?
Well Beer and Wine contain some nutrients similar to candy bars or sodas, but cigs are pretty much just poisons and toxins.Angel-A wrote:Beer and wine heal the player and cause drunkeness for merely half a minute; smoking shouldn't be too bad.

I like that idea actuallyJonas wrote:Isn't it more like they should actually decrease your base accuracy if you've used them for a while, and then temporarily remove that penalty every time you smoke again?Angel-A wrote:They really should increase accuracy, now that you mention it.
The real trouble with reality is that there's no background music.
Re: Realistic too easy?
Plus the accuracy gain from cigarettes is TINY. Enough that it'd make a difference at olympic shootin' tourneys, yes, but anyone entering an olympic shootin' tourney already has rifles/pistols at level 4 anyway.
Re: Realistic too easy?
JC can stand enviromental toxins and radiation, surely advanced nano-augmentation blunts the effects from mere cigarettes.Jaedar wrote:Well Beer and Wine contain some nutrients similar to candy bars or sodas, but cigs are pretty much just poisons and toxins.Angel-A wrote:Beer and wine heal the player and cause drunkeness for merely half a minute; smoking shouldn't be too bad.

And indeed it does: if you have augEnviro active, or (more hilariously) are wearing a hazmat suit, you take less damage from smoking.
That's right, kids: if you're gonna smoke, do it through the filter system of a selfcontained enviromental protection suit!

Smoking inside a bubble is more healthy.

Re: Realistic too easy?
That could work in a way a-la the Crack Pipe from Postal 2. (It bumps your health up to 125 for about 2 minutes, then dumps it down to about 70, weapon accuracy could recieve a similar modification.)Jonas wrote:Isn't it more like they should actually decrease your base accuracy if you've used them for a while, and then temporarily remove that penalty every time you smoke again?Angel-A wrote:They really should increase accuracy, now that you mention it.

I always figured there would be a conversation somewhere, where someone's going through nicotine withdrawal. You know, determined not to help you and extra-crabby; suddenly becoming very nice and helpful once you give them a cigarette.Allan wrote:What was the point of cigarettes?
Never came across an encounter like that though. Not in DX, nor in any mod (including this one so far). At least, not that I remember.

The kid who asked food. It was nice to throw him with pack of cigarettes.
Also when you made peace with the tribes in Hong Kong, it is nice to smoke a pack
with red wine.

Re: Realistic too easy?
Didn't Shifter make it so that using a cigarette and blowing smoke in someone's face has a chance of causing tenporary blinding like tear gas or pepper spray?
Re: Realistic too easy?
Yep. Cigs count as a weapon because of that, if you smoke. It can make NPCs run away or attack if they don't like weapons.Delta2501 wrote:Didn't Shifter make it so that using a cigarette and blowing smoke in someone's face has a chance of causing tenporary blinding like tear gas or pepper spray?

Re: Realistic too easy?
A pack a day smoker would seem a health nut compared to that guy. Since he would have trouble exhaling, since... you know... full mouth, is that where the term *blow it out your arse* comes from?
Growing old is inevitable.......Growing up is optional
Re: Realistic too easy?
If you didn't notice, in the game JC smokes the whole pack at once. And he does that in three seconds.
