Windows 7 & Deus Ex

Post by CorinthMaxwell »

Anyone know if this game works with that particular operating system? I was going to upgrade to Vista on this computer (seeing as how I know absolutely nothing about 7), but now, it looks like that particular generation will have to be skipped.

So.....yeah. Does anyone happen to know how well (or how poorly) this game functions on that operating system, or what?

It works fine, set your compatibility to Windows 98 or XP and it's good to go.

If you don't already know.... this is a helpful program: http://kentie.net/article/dxguide/

Yeah it works fine for me, even without compatibility mode

Worked fine for me on both Vista and Windows 7. Some people report problems with newer processors but that's about it.

GOTY works for me on Windows 7, messes up for me on Vista...it was the sold out version, not the original GOTY.

Sold Out is just GOTY isn't it? Minus the soundtrack CD, anyway.

I think Sold Out also added some custom launcher that screwed with the common no-cd ini file trick, other than that ... yeah, pretty much.

Yeah I discoved that the No-CD Fix didn't work with my SoldOut Copy of Deus Ex..
I found that simply patching over it solves that problem though
Dispite the fact that GOTY is supposed to be the latest version..

After installing I just deleted the path to the CD drive. Works so far.

Yeah, there's a nice: "On behalf of Ion Storm and Sold Out Software thank you".....etc.

I did that after installing TNM as well, dunno if that would make any difference though.

Ah, I always wondered why that never worked with my copy - I bought it in 2003 in a shop somewhere so it was just the Sold Out version.

Nowadays I just install it from a copy on my hard drive, so the CD path is all the stuff that would usually be on the CD. Works well for me.

Strange, my sold out ver works perfectly fine with the .ini hack...

Anyway, I have been having this issue in windows 7 where when I launch DX fullscreen, the game opens but only a small portion has the actual game

Try alt-tabbing away and back to the game.

It may be a renderer thing. Do you know how to change the renderer?

Alt tabbing works, more annoying than anything else. Running OpenGL beta drivers with a full custom setup, so I guess that could be the issue. Same thing happens opening with HDTP.exe TNM.exe and DeusEx.exe
