Quick question about Multiplayer Player Setup.

Post by Agent Orange »

Hello there, I tried to search for this, but with no success. So I'm asking if it's possible to play as a different model than NSF Terrorist, Unatco, MJ-12 or Agent in the multiplayer.
According to one Mod which has bots in it, I saw that it IS possible.
Is there a way to do so without installing anything, because I use the Steam Version, if so what do I need to do and how?

I would be grateful for any advice.

Only if that server allows it.
Most don't do ordinary multiplayer with mods like that unfortunately.

CozmoRPG server on the otherhand, allows you to buy clothing items from a shop and change your appearence. I haven't tried the latest version myself but I know the server was up earlier this week but I haven't played it yet. I recommend it though.

Other than that, sorry I couldn't be much help.

I usually start the server. So you state that I need a mod?
That would be unfortunate... as Steam Version usually does not like mods that much.

In that case, try the Shifter Mod. That comes with about 100 player models for Multiplayer. It does alter MP gameplay a little though. I'm not sure how MP Hosting works so I guess you'll have to experiment with it.
Let me know how you get on with it.

Don't do that.. installing shifter for multiplayer while others don't use it..

Just use this command instead..

Code: Select all

admin set deusexplayer mesh <model name>
Well it would make the model as the one you mentioned.. will ruin the whole textures though, you'll look all messy..... so for that... you could do a trick, say; if you want to become a cat for example, just summon a cat first (by the command 'summon cat').. then try the above command mentioned about meshes; just type <model name> as cat and every texture and model would become that of the class cat which you've summon (so basically in other words the class HAD to exist before you typed that command, so rather than looking for a model name; that command found a class and used it's details etc)

Another problem with that is that everyone will become affected by that command (all the players in MP). So if you want to just do it for the NSF, or UNATCO.. perhaps try doing it like this..

Code: Select all

admin set mpnsf mesh <model/class name>
and for UNATCO:

Code: Select all

admin set mpunatco mesh <model/class name>
and so on..

Hope that helps, if any other help is needed do tell.

If other players don't have shifter, it'll cause mismatch issues won't it? :/
Bugger, Okay yeah DJ knows best for MP.
