DX2 Loading problems

Does anyone have any tricks to get save games/new areas to load? The two main crashes I face are the DX2 process going to 0% and staying there at load screens (often you see either an all black screen or a black screen with the blue IW cursor on it) and the other crash I have is also under loading conditions the DX2 process disappears and a proses called IonLoader.exe seems to take its place. What I see in this case is a loading screen (the one before the loading bar type) and then after about 60 seconds a time out message shows up for Ion loader.
I have been looking for fixes everywhere, but as of now it is virtually unplayable. On my computer it also doesn't seem to care whether or not I am letting it use both cores it will always crash regardless.
Also I have heard there is a key you can hold down that supposedly helps with loading issues. I haven't been able to find it again, but if anyone knows of this I would like to try it.
