It's like falling into another dimension. Chalk and cheezy.

Re: Deus Ex Reborn is finally Dead.
I just noticed that as well, that they're redirecting now. The host went down, not DXR. I think it was called Edge Network. There's threads here talking about it, since it took down other mods and DXE.
Although, DXR's moddb page hasn't been updated. The host wiped out the site, not the mod, but the mod isn't back yet. It was very quiet there for months. I've been wondering about how the mod will continue.

Maybe I can convince everyone now that a port to the blender game engine is not such a bad idea...
lol, who am I kidding.

new links.

we've had problems with the edgenetwork host, as you might have read.
i've revived the old school domain of deus-ex.org.
as for the state of the mod i believe akerfeldt was doing some work on it a few weeks ago.
edit: we dont have control over the old domain, so we can't put in a redirect
shameless plug: if you followed unatcoborn on twitter you would already know this. http://www.twitter.com/unatcoborn

Re: Deus Ex Reborn is finally Dead.
Thanks Fender2k1!
The news about work done a couple weeks ago is encouraging, but I'm not entirely convinced about DXR. Akerfeldt hasn't been seen on the forum since I believe May, there's been no updates on progress/screenshots/anything for a long time, and the site needs some minor administration tweaks after the move (but it's 2007 stuff anyway). I know it's not "dead" since I know it wouldn't be left like that, but it is quiet and I consider DXR central to DX's future.
I'm convinced that UNATCO Born is back though . There's the twitter news feed, your fast response to the host going down, and I'm seeing your name often lately . If anyone here has ever complained about being forced to eventually side with the NSF, you're waiting for UNATCO Born!

Re: Deus Ex Reborn is finally Dead.
also, help is much encouraged as far as ub goes. i can't take on this all myself, and fastgamerr is quite busy working on his own mod.
so..
hinty hint hint.
and as far as akerfeldt goes, hes got a fulltime+ job as a programmer.. i know how that goes where you program 8-9 hours a day you get home.. the last thing you want to do is code some more.

Re: Deus Ex Reborn is finally Dead.
I wish I knew. The farthest I can get in even Programming XYZ for Dummies is the first chapter. I've failed at C, Obj-C, ocaml, even python. If I could program, I wouldn't be just another fan. Beyond that, I still think anyone learning to mod Deus Ex at this point is insane
Of course DXR doesn't owe anyone anything, and if it's important then I should help (m3rc1l3ss makes that fair joke at the new forum). Still, I'm not excited about DXR anymore. Maybe that's not important. Still, probably no one is going to start to mod Deus Ex into another game when DXR already has maps/textures/models done (AFAIK), and DXR is closed to new talent while apparently stalled. Then again, IIRC an Unreal3 port would mean rewriting nearly all code, and other modders may not wait for UT2004 (as m3rc1l3ss jokingly suggests Cry Engine 2).

Re: Deus Ex Reborn is finally Dead.
I'm not sure what you guys are talking about. Fender2k1 brought the DXR/UB/MiB forum back online, hosting it elsewhere. It's great since the forum appeared to be gone, and hard work was done to restore and upgrade it. UNATCO:Born is clearly not dead, which is excellent and exciting; the two big issues with DX is often said to be the result of the Lebedev episode (lack of choice), and the entire program (engine).
DXR is either dead or on hiatus, but it's hard to tell since Akerfeldt has been busy and away since around May. It hasn't been officially abandoned. Certainty about it being dead or alive isn't possible without word from Akerfeldt. I've become pessimistic, but I only want to post about uncertainty.
