I actually had a copy of MDK for my mac many years ago. That mac was my first gaming console . It was a pretty good game, although I don't think I ever got past the third level or so. I loved the sniper/machinegun/helmet thing he had.

MDK was cool. I played it on a demo Sega Saturn in a Circuit City. I hated it because I couldn't jump out of some valley in the first level. Once I eventually played it on PC (maybe four years ago), I started to love the humour.
If we can start talking arcade games, get out your MAME kids. My favourite is probably Discs of Tron. It's not the annoying three-game Tron that was ported to Atari ISTR, but it's instead a 3D game in a cabinet you'd step into, like a hyper-advanced pong environment. It combines genres, like the simple platformer, the realtime strategy/puzzle, and third person shooter. There's so many cool arcade games to bring up, like Holosseum, Superman, New Zealand Story, all my favourite 3DO games...or stuff like Who Shot Johny Rock and Dragonquest that nobody ever knew how to play.
I wasn't much into Amiga. I learned to program stuff on them and forgot how a long time ago. They were ancient when I was using them in around 1995. I programmed more on the Tandy CoCo, and abhorred it, though I learned BASIC on a Casio in highschool and could possibly enjoy the CoCo now. Tried a VIC-20 maybe six years ago and hated the damn thing, mostly because its QWERTY was hardcoded and it used the weird commands peek & poke for everything.

Heh, why dosen't anybody remember X-Com UFO Defense, Freespace 2 and Jagged Alliance 2?
Re: Xesum's Nostalgic: "Do you remember this game" Thread
I've been playing both of these within the last couple of months, so I wouldn't say I'm nostalgic for them, but they are both awesome games.daedulas wrote:Freespace 2 and Jagged Alliance 2?

Paul, I know you said no phone messages, but South Street's going up in smoke. We'll have to meet at the subway station.

I've never played Donkey Kong, and I can't say I regret it.

Well I've played the Donkey Kong levels in Braid, arguably that's better.

Hardly Jonas. I actually didn't like braid, the puzzles were way to complex and time (no pun intented) demanding.Jonas wrote:Well I've played the Donkey Kong levels in Braid, arguably that's better.

I still have a stand-alone Donkey Kong unit. Not a cabinet, just a little toy they made in the 80's . I think I have it for Coleco too, but it's more basic than the arcade version.
I never really was a fan of Donkey Kong. Mario had a lot more technological innovation and was for more natural and controllable.

Not a fan of platformers, so no Donkey Kong nor Mario for me.
Did play MDK (although by a friend), which was quite fun. MDK2: Only the demo.
Also; have to agree with Storm about NFS2 and the sequels being less. NFS3: Hot Persuit was at least still some fun in Co-op Persuit mode, but after that...
I am too young to be nostalgic; but I just have to add "Jonas in the fast lane" and something called "Crazy Cars 3". "Stunts" was an awesome classic too...

Can somebody tell me how I can get a custom avatar?
Oh wait, I already got one...
