Real-life Deus Ex

Post by Grammatolatry »

I'm currently in Managed Isolation Quarantine in NZ doing some early morning laps in the big exercise car park at 5am, and the set-up here reminds me so much of Deus Ex. Fences, floodlights, patrolling guards, security cameras, shadows to hide in, and areas where for sure there would be multitools or lock picks dropped....to pass the time I'm idly imagining the best route to sneak past them all. Good times!

In many Deus Ex was and is real life. It was a commentary on the way things were back then and increasingly the way they are today: more than some people would care to admit. The writing is a patchwork of disparate ideas and the plot and characters quite scattered, but there are identifiable themes which are serious and, if anything, thought-provoking.
