Anterior Cervical Fusion Surgery
ACDF surgery is typically performed through an anterior (front) approach, involving an incision on the front of the neck to access the spine. The surgeon carefully removes the damaged disc, taking care to preserve surrounding structures. The bone graft or artificial disc is then inserted into the space previously occupied by the disc, and the vertebrae are fused together using screws, plates, or rods to provide stability. Anterior Cervical Fusion Surgery is generally successful in reducing symptoms and improving spinal function, but it is important to note that it is a major surgical procedure with potential risks and complications, including infection, bleeding, nerve damage, and the need for additional surgery.
