Post by FliX »

hi,
im new here, and first i have to say i love the work your mod is doing!
DX is and will always be one of my favorite games, and to see it in better grafics would be godlike!

and i was wondering wether you are also thinking of rebuilding some of the maps.

If by maps you mean textures and models. Then yes.

That's not the job of HDTP, but I wouldn't mind creating an add-on pack, because nothing annoys me more then entering a club (like that one in france) to find 5 people, especially when they say "everyone is being directed there".

Adding stuff onto maps except to fix stuff (or add new locations - something that would be extremely awesome for Hong Kong) is pointless because there's nothing that can really be improved on geometry.

Check this out.
I would go so far as to say that the origional makers of Deus Ex would have put more people in those club scenes if the computers could have supported them... but now I'm sure they can - adding folks into those scenes, as well as city areas (perhaps more triad members...), and so on.... wouldn't be too far out of the mission of HDTP? (Aside from the fact that it's not a "Texture", but still...)

You'd have to write convos for all of 'em, though...

Or just reuse the SAME convos over and over again..which'd be annoying and odd.

Sounds good. Bring it on!

I still think we need to get hold of Warren Spector... somebody must know how to contact him. If we can just get him -- or anybody else from the original development team -- to take an interest in the project, then the extra creative input should see the HDTP progress in leaps and bounds.

Of course, if Spector won't come willingly, then we can always abduct him then send him to Michael Bloomberg to explain why he and his two daughters won?t get their vaccine this month.

Err? Yeah.

Hell yes! I like your thinking. Whether we tinker with the maps or not, we should get some input from Spector into the work that is currently being done. Who better to criticise new models and textures than the lead game designer himself?

But if all that doesn't go to plan, I've got a good strong man-sized plastic bag that you can borrow. The trick is sneaking up behind him without him knowing you're there. Capsicum spray helps a lot, too... :D

Oh, and all of the above -- especially any extortion -- is only if Metche gives the green light. *cough* So how about it? Please? We won't spray in his eyes, I promise.
