That seems fairly recent, so it should work. Try running dxdiag (type it into the Run prompt in your Start bar and press Enter) and see what DirectX version it says you've got installed.
Btw, can you give me the exact and right steps to install Ultra High HTDP correctly?
Not really, sorry. The Ultra High Quality package wasn't made by the HDTP team. It requires a bunch of manual fiddling with inis, right? I guess your best bet is to just uninstall and then reinstall Deus Ex.

As far as I know the GMA 915 chipset does not work with D3d9.

You will however be able to run the most up to date OpenGL drivers which do make some improvement though nowhere near as good as on a machine with a real videocard (JAGGIES >:3)

I recommend using the beta of the OpenGL drivers with New Vision beta and HDTP beta. I have not run the ultra high hdtp so I cannot compare this setup with that but it is probably the best you can do with the 915

(Teaches us to buy laptops with crappy integrated graphics lol)

The 915 and 945 chipsets are renowned for compatibility issues (They are responsible largely for the vista capable debacle) so I would be suprised if there is any workaround.

Just wanted to say I like GMA900/950. It ran cool/quiet, it was efficient, and it played Deus Ex fine. It was Intel's first recent foray into graphics, and it did well. I was excited about later Intel graphics stuff, but it got quiet after X3100. It's more than enough in a laptop to save you from boredom.

Yeah, I just cant get the thing to play nice with D3d rendered games (Older D3d renderers are fine but newer ones tend to not work #-o )

That is not to say it is a bad chip set thought, as it can almost play Half Life 2 (~8FPS) which being a laptop that was not meant for gaming (HP tc4200 tablet pc 1.86ghz Pentium M) is fairly impressive granted the game was two years older than the system.

Alright this may have being addressed somewhere before but I didn't see. Basically after installing HDTP with the updated openGL renderer and New Vision mod the game runs really smoothly. The problem is the animations, movement speed and comm message text runs really slowly while the sounds and music run normally. It just feels like the game is in slo-mo mode.

So im on a laptop with an Nvidia Geforce 6800 - dell laptop version and a 1.7ghz intel cpu, it's single core and the os is XP.

I have vsync enabled, i.e(SwapInterval=1), and all the other HDTP.ini settings that is needed.

So does anyone know what the story with this is then? Trying to run the normal game or HDTP with Direct3d just doubles the normal speed of everything I mentioned.

Edit: And yeah even with a clean install, im pretty sure regular DeusEx would do the same to me.

Try disabling V-sync?

Try downloading the custom DX launcher from here and overwrite your HDTP.exe with it:

It might be because of your power management settings lowering the CPU clock frequency. Deus Ex's speed can get messed up because of this.
Try changing your power management profile to "always on" and see if that changes anything. If your laptop comes with a proper power management utility, set the CPU speed to always run at maximum performance.

Obviously, set it back to how it was after playing the game, or your laptop will get hot and eat through the battery too fast.

Well if it makes any difference, the battery in this laptop is fucked, I never use it without the adapter simply because the power drains instantly.

EDIT: The power management is at what you said, so it's certainly not that. I've noticed that running the game (pre custom launcher) with the in game software renderar ran it at normal, it just limits your resolution to max 800 x 600.

I've been having this problem now wehn using HDTP.
While starting up Deus EX normally the problem isn't there (only though HDTP.exe).

The problem is audio.
There is high crackling sound on the backround.
It is gettong louder when game noises rise.

I sounds like an old radio when the channel isn't straight on, always there.

Anyone else have this problem?
Running GotY-edition (SoldOut) from CD-ROM with XP32bit, HDTP and New Vision installed.
Bravery is not a function of firepower.

go to the HDTP.ini (Located in your deus Ex install folder, "DeusEx\System") and find the line

Code: Select all

UseDirectSound=True
Change it to

Code: Select all

UseDirectSound=False
and save the .ini file.

If this doesn't help, post back here again.

You're not using Kentie's modified .exe, are you? (If you are the game comes up with a play configure and exit button in the preloader)
