Re: TNM Shirt for Screenshot Compo
That is a pretty neat screen though, right? Ghost anna congratulating me on my actions (of booby trapping the plane, blowing her up, then knocking out and kidnapping Juan)
Re: TNM Shirt for Screenshot Compo
How did you get that anyway?
I will use it any time somebody calls TNM buggy from now on

Re: TNM Shirt for Screenshot Compo
In the 747, there's a little room/hallway right outside Juan's room. You enter it through a locked door whose key is upstairs in the control room. To the right is a meeting room, in front of you is Juan's bedroom, on the left is a wall with two windows. Place a lam on the left window, the one closest to the door you just came through. When Anna comes running up after talking with Juan, it'll blow up, and she'll be just the right distance away that it puts her in "oh fuck run away" mode without killing her. When Anna and Gunther and Walter Simons get in this state, all three have cloak augs they activate.
Note that despite what It-He says, this works on any difficulty mode. Deus Ex does not change weapon damage or enemy health based on difficulty, it changes nothing but how much damage the player takes.
If you leave her alone long enough, she'll calm down and not be aggressive anymore, and re-align herself with you (much like UNACTO troops will do if you shoot one of them then hide in UNACTO HQ, or otherwise piss them off. You can see an example of this in this video I made ages ago: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=03j_COodK88 ). Knock out or kill Juan then go to leave the 747 and she'll run out of hiding (which coincidentally but hilariously is almost always in the bathroom) to congratulate you on your actions.

(gunther can't cloak)
Everything else is spot on, though. Fairly impressive that she has enough health to sustain a LAM hit, though. Probably why the positioning matters so much.

Re: TNM Shirt for Screenshot Compo
You know what strange, weird thing I saw for the first time ever in Deus Ex the other day? An NSF climb out of water. It was at the docks in the Airfield map, and I had emerged from the tunnel underneath it, since I'm playing a "Take all the augs and skills you normally don't, use all the weapons you normally don't, and don't kill anybody" playthrough and swam through the sewers instead of going through the helipad. He was standing on the docks when I emerged, and jumped into the water after me when I swam out of range of his flamethrower then tried to knife me while swimming. I went mano y mano with him, Baton vs knife, with nothing but our swimming skills deciding life or death. Within a few hits I got him running away from me, and I left him alone and surfaced onto the docks, him swimming around underwater in a panic. I've got a LAW out and am zooming in on the guard tower to the right of the dockhouse, when I see that NSF pop out of the water, run right through my firing line, out the door, and sound the alarm. I was fucking STUNNED.

Re: TNM Shirt for Screenshot Compo
How does that work? - NPCs can't jump. I've seen greasels do it but I don't think I've ever seen an NPC do it.
Usually what happens (especially in that airfield scenario) is I completely exploit the AI as I lure the NPC into the water and then swim around at the bottom waiting for him to run out of air (because seemingly JC has a higher lung capacity than NPCs even without augs or skills), and instead of returning to the surface he just swims around in panic, eventually dying.
By the way, any word on the winner?

Re: TNM Shirt for Screenshot Compo
Yeah, there's special jump code just for that. Scriptedpawn contains a surprising amount of hilariously context-specific stuff, considering how badly it does...well..."general performance".
I discovered the other day, for instance, that while hiding in shadows works wonders for avoiding detection, once you ARE detected, shadows make absolutely no difference whatsoever: the check for lightlevel is ignored. You could be in an utterly dark room (along with them) and they'll magically know where you are at all times. Intervening geometry is fine though, so if you can put a corner between you and them for a few seconds, dark magically works again.
Out of curiosity, I decided to add the darkness check back again. Fuck me, does it make DX a cakewalk.
*surprise!* *BZZZT* *hides*
